Press Machine
Hot-press-dried material not only exhibits the highest
mechanical and electrical strength, but also offers dimensional
stability and low shrinkage. The unique properties are produced
on a board machine with a special hot-press. The latest paper machine
technology allows exact control of CMD and MD profiles in the wet
end of the board machine. This ensures excellent flatness of the

Water
:
Quality Water is the most critical factor in the
manufacture of Pressboard.
Hydraulic Press :
A most modern multiday-light Hydraulic Press of starting
from 1200 tonnes capacity with Thermic Fluid Heating is used for
the manufacture of Pre-compressed Pressboards.
Insulation for transformers :
Components and insulating
sheets of pressboard are used in oil-cooled power transformers
and distribution transformers primarily due to their high purity,
mechanical strength and optimal oil-impregnability. The components
formed of pressboard, such as angle rings, snout segments and end
leads, enable an exact adaptation to the electric field conditions
prevailing in the transformer.
Especially in the sector of high field strengths,
the dimensional stability and good dielectric features are of great
advantage. Special forming and pressing procedures are employed
in the manufacturing technology of the pressboard
components.
Pressboard knows in different-different countries
in different-different names i.e. Transformerboard, Press Boards,
Pressboards, Paperboard, insulation pressboard, cellulose based
board, insulation board, transformer board etc.
Pressboard is a hard and rigid board having high
purity with excellent electrical and mechanical properties, is specifically
produced for the high voltage and extra high voltage Transformer
Industry. The product is made from virgin softwood sulphate pulp.
Pressboard produces in sheet form in various thicknesses,
various densities and manufacturing methods - calendared, hot-press-dried,
corrugated or laminated structures.
Precompressed Pressboards are cellulose based and
are produced from electrical grade kraft unbleached softwood pulp
having high chemical purity and low conductivity.
They are produced on intermittent board machine and
compacted without added bonding agents in multi day-light press
under heat and pressure to achieve required properties. The boards
are characterized by high density, high purity, uniform thickness,
dimensional stability, low compressibility, low shrinkage and high
electrical strength.
Precompressed Pressboards have high dielectric strength
and find use as insulating material in different types of Power
and Distribution Transformers, Capacitors, Switch Gears etc., in
the form of winding cylinders, spacers, washers, keyway strips.
etc.
Actually pre-compressed pressboard is a board made
by compressing layers of insulation paper together and drying them

Raw Material
The main raw martial of transformer board is cellulose
based “electrical grade” unbleached sulphate softwood
pulp.
Application
High Density Pressboard used for Power Transformers
above 132kV Class and Medium Density Pressboard used for Power &
distribution Transformers and switchgears below 132kV Class for
electrical insulation purpose.
Pressboard is the base material for components
like cylinders, strips, spacers, rings, washers, plates. Having
control over the many steps of the whole process chain from unbleached
electrical grade pulp to components is advantageous in respect to
product quality, customized solutions and creating value in the
field of application: insulation of high voltage transformers.
